Armed Forces Covenant

We are now officially signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant, and we will uphold the Principles of the Armed Forces Covenant by:

Promoting the Armed Forces: Promoting that we are Armed Forces Friendly to the community and in particular the Armed Forces Community, our partners and external stakeholders by displaying the AFC Logo on our website and any documentation to show that we support the Armed Forces Community.

Veterans and Service Leavers friendly: Through willingly employing members of the Armed Forces Community, where they meet the requirements of any vacancies advertised, recognising their skills, providing additional training that is recognised at SCQF Level 6 (Scottish Higher Equivalent), and supporting them through their career transition.

Supporting Armed Forces Spouses, Veterans and UK Armed Forces Reservists: As employers, by offering flexible leave and hybrid working for members of the Armed Forces Community living in our rural community, which helps to support a better work-life balance.

Supporting the Armed Forces Community: As a provider of free, confidential and impartial advice and support; we will provide specialist support, communications, engagement and outreach to the Armed Forces Community via the three D&G CAS Bureaux in Annan, Dumfries, and Stranraer and our various community-based outreach clinics with an Armed Forces Specialist Adviser(s).

Supporting The D&G Armed Forces Champion other Armed Forces Support Services in the region: Working proactively with these organisations (SSAFA, RBLS and The Veterans Garden Dumfries) to better understand the advice needs of the Armed Forces Community. Signposting and or referring members of the Armed Forces Community to available support; Developing relationships and working collaboratively with organisations supporting the Covenant and the Armed Forces Community in our locality/region.

Armed Forces Veterans can find links to support in our ‘Get Advice’ section here.
