Two new Citizens Advice Outreaches in Dumfries and Galloway
3rd November 2026
Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service (D&G CAS) are launching two new local outreach clinics in the east of that region, in Gretna Library and Lochmaben Library.
Brenda Waugh, Manager of D&G CAS Annan Bureau is delighted at the new outreaches, “As the cost of living crisis deepens, people are really struggling with the increasing prices of travel in the region, heating their homes, putting food on the table and much more. Those problems are amplified in more rural areas and I would really like these new outreaches to become a beacon of hope to those in need.”
Annandale North Councillor Stephen Thompson agrees, “I think it is good for everybody across Annandale and Eskdale to get access to the outreach service, because it is something that we know can be difficult for rural communities.”
Jennie Wilkes, Chairperson of the Royal Burgh of Lochmaben and District Community Council, is delighted the outreach is being established, “I think it is a fantastic idea because it is so easily accessible. With a reduced bus service and the cost of travel high, people aren’t always able to get into Dumfries, nor is everyone online so it’s a connection they otherwise wouldn’t be able to have.”
Carolyn Wilson, Councillor for Annandale North welcomes the new outreach service, “Everyone faces challenges from time to time and it’s not always easy to know where to turn. That’s why I’m delighted to welcome this Citizens Advice outreach service to Lochmaben. Having trusted advice available locally will make it easier for residents to get the support they need, close to home, and ensure no one has to face difficulties alone.”
Brenda concludes, “A face to face chat with an adviser can be a lifeline for those who feel out of step with an increasingly impersonal world, as sometimes only a conversation with someone in-person can provide the support and reassurance many people need. We are so much more than just and advice service!”
The new outreaches will operate on both a drop in and appointment basis, from Gretna Library on the second and fourth Friday of each month, from 10am to 3 pm and Lochmaben Library on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, from 9.30am to 12 noon. Please visit the D&G CAS website for further details, or call 0300 303 4321 to make an appointment.
