Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service (DAGCAS) exists to offer advice to the people of Dumfries and Galloway on a wide-range of issues.

We are driven by the aim of helping individuals become fully aware of their rights and responsibilities.

DAGCAS also seeks to responsibly influence social policies at a local and national level, regularly meeting with politicians and others. We partake in national campaigns with innovative local actions, for instance on pay day loans and debt, and on the cost of living.

In 2016/17, we secured financial gains for service users of almost £7m. That means £7m back in the pockets of individuals. In all, we advised 7,416 clients with 15,908 enquiries.

Our special projects also make a marked difference to people’s lives, covering areas such as debt and money advice, Benefit tribunals, Kinship care, emergency food, and minority communities.
