Vacancy for Fundraising and Development Officer

24th March 2025

Would you like to be part of our dedicated team who are driving our vision to be a leading socially responsible organisation providing holistic, high quality and accessible advice and representation to citizens of Dumfries & Galloway in the right place, at the right time and in the right way?
In becoming part of our team, you will be able to make a very real difference to the lives of others by helping us to access funding, thus securing the financial stability of the service for years to come.
Our aims are to ensure that individuals do not suffer through a lack of knowledge of their rights and responsibilities of the services available to them, or through an inability to express their needs effectively. We aim equally to exercise a responsible influence on the development of social policies and services, both locally and nationally.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative individual for the post of Fundraising and Development Officer.

Hours: 21 hrs per week
Contract: Funded to December 2026 with potential for an extra two years’ funding
Location: Dumfries
Salary: £29,418 per annum pro rata (SCQF Level 8, Point 1)
Start Date: 19 May 2025 or by negotiation

Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager, the postholder will be responsible for the on-going implementation of our fundraising strategy through the development of partnerships with likeminded organisations working in the area, applications for funding from statutory bodies and trust funds, and the development of other funding streams. You will become an integral part of our Corporate Services Team, widening our funding base, increasing our autonomy, and supporting our volunteers. At all times you will work strategically to embed our values of TRUST, RESPECT and INCLUSION.

Excellent written communication skills for funding applications will be required, and experience of fundraising in other ways would be an advantage. You will also possess the ability to reach out to partner organisations across the region, negotiating and working with them for the benefit of our mutual clients. You should have experience of, and/or qualifications at, SCQF level 8. Some evidence of Continuous Professional Development would be an advantage, although an enthusiastic graduate starting out in their career may also be considered and they are encouraged to apply.

Closing date for all applications: 14th April 2025 at 9 am
Interviews will be held week commencing 21st April 2025

Successful candidates will be subject to vetting through Disclosure Scotland.
