Challenge Poverty Week is a national campaign co-ordinated by the Poverty Alliance to raise awareness of issues surrounding poverty.

The event is free and runs from 10am to 4pm at the Easterbrook Hall, The Crichton, Dumfries.

The focus of the event will be on:

  • Widening awareness of the various causes of poverty and how it impacts individuals and families
  • To get the right people and organisations together to positively deal with poverty
  • To provide examples of how, with the right innovation and commitment, people in poverty can have their lives changed for the better

The conference will be interactive and will include both national and local contexts, featuring the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Scotland Housing Network and many more key organisations who can give first hand examples of helping people who are experiencing poverty.
