DAGCAS is complying with government guidance to help contain the spread of COVID-19. Due to the sharp rise in Coronavirus cases in Wigtownshire our bureau in Stranraer will STOP face to face contact with the public.
However, Dumfries, Annan and Stewartry will remain open for URGENT appointments and a drop-in service and to see people who have no access to telephone and internet.
If you can contact us by telephone or through our website then you should continue to do so. This will be a quicker way of speaking to an adviser.
We will deliver an essential service that focuses on telephone, webchat and email enquiries.

Alistair Wallace- Volunteer Solicitor at our Dumfries Headquarters.
Alistair Wallace joined DAGCAS’ In Court Advice Project in September 2019 as a volunteer Solicitor with a keen interest in inequality, injustice and discrimination. He undertook all the necessary Volunteer Generalist Adviser training and quickly commenced solo practice as a volunteer adviser. To date, many of DAGCAS’ staff and clients have greatly benefited from Alistair’s time as well as his breadth of legal knowledge and expertise, he is a valued member of the team. Alistair has helped many DAGCAS clients by clearly giving advice and explaining options for very complex cases. Alastair has proven to be a dedicated and hard-working volunteer, whose professionalism and ability has greatly enhanced the work of the In Court Advice Project by offering a wider range of specialist legal advice offered to our clients. Alistair is an exceptional volunteer who is not only an asset to DAGCAS, but has made a significant contribution to the Dumfries and Galloway Community and this must be recognised. We are delighted to have him as a volunteer.
