Stewartry Citizens Advice Collaboration

From Tuesday 12 February 2019 Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service will commence the delivery of Castle Douglas clinics at the parish church halls on Queen street in a unique and ground breaking collaboration with the Parish Church. The halls are already a focal point for the local community with a wide variety of clubs and events delivered there. This collaboration adds to that. We will still be delivering our clinics at Dalbeattie and Kirkcudbright libraries. Read more

New advice services in the Stewartry area

Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service (D&G CAS) is today announcing new advice services that will start on Monday 3 December 2018 in the Stewartry area.  D&G CAS regretfully also announces that the Castle Douglas Citizens Advice Bureau will close its doors for the last time on Thursday 29 November 2018 at 5pm as a result of budget cuts. Scottish CAB Network Launches New Financial Health Check

Citizens Advice advisers are to provide a new service aimed at giving Scots a ‘financial health check’ to see if they are eligible for additional support that they may not know about. The financial health check involves a short confidential interview with a CAB adviser and is available free to anyone who asks for it, or any CAB client whose adviser feels might benefit from it. Scottish CAB advice on rent arrears up by 47% in five years

Citizens Advice Scotland has today published evidence showing that demand for advice on rent arrears increased by 47% between 2012 - 2017. The new CAS report, which considers the causes and consequences of this rise, finds that changes to the social security system have been one of the key drivers of the problem, in particular Universal Credit.
