April is Stress Awareness Month

Did you know that April is Stress Awareness Month? We all suffer from stress at some time in our lives but in its severest form can be a very debilitating condition and extremely harmful.

Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service is raising awareness of the negative effects of stress which can be caused by a variety of factors including debt, benefits, housing, employment and consumer issues. People put off dealing with these issues until it reaches critical proportions because they do not know where to turn or who to speak to.

Your local Citizens Advice Bureau is staffed by volunteer advisers who have the broad and specialist knowledge & resources to help you find a solution to your stress inducing predicament. Sue Irving, Chief Executive, DAGCAS says, “Every day we receive visitors to our bureaux who are extremely stressed because of their circumstances and generally cannot identify a way forward. Our volunteer advisers help them make sense of their situation and provide them with options that best suit their needs”.

Listen to Christina’s story to see how they helped her.

If you think you can help people like Christina through volunteering at your local bureau in Annan, Dumfries, Castle Douglas or Stranraer then please get in touch with Phil Stewart, Volunteer Development Officer, Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service on 0300 303 4321 or by e mail at [email protected]
